FAQs

Taking the dog for a walk

How do i know if this service is right for me?

Do you love your dog? Do you hate leaving them alone for the day?  Then this is right for you and your dog.  All dogs benefit greatly from mental and physical stimulation, and their behaviour and happiness can suffer if they don't get enough.  Stop feeling guilty every time you leave your dog at home alone!

Whether you want someone to keep your dog company while you're gone, have them work off some excess energy, or you have a new puppy/older dog that needs more attention, I offer a service that you and your furry friend can benefit from.  Whether it be twice a day, every weekday or once a week.

What if i have more than one dog?

If your dogs have similar needs and get along well then it should be no problem to walk/run them together, or to include both in a pee & play break.  There is an added fee in the case of an extra dog, or more than one extra dog from the same household, but that is evaluated on a case-by-case basis depending on the behaviour of the dogs when together.

How many dogs will you walk at once?

I aim to provide the best level of service possible at an affordable price.  This means I do not walk six dogs from different households at once - there's no way to safely provide attention for all dogs in that case.  Currently, I do not mix households of dogs, but to keep the service affordable I may do so in the future - but never without your permission.

Why should we trust you with our best friend?

I am a professional dog walker who has been operating in the city of Edmonton since 2019.  I have owned and been around dogs my entire life.  I have dedicated a great deal of time to reading, researching and taking courses to better understand dogs and how to keep them happy and healthy.  I have also spent time working as a  Vet Assistant so that I could learn even more about dogs! No one loves your dog as much as you do, but I will certainly try to come close!  I am first and foremost a dog (and cat!) lover, and I think all dogs deserve the best!

Can we make bookings online?

As of yet, there is no online booking system.  Currently I am doing things the old-fashioned way.  Please feel free to call, or email if you prefer, to book the 'Meet & Greet' before any service can be booked.

Can I book a walk before a 'meet & greet'?

No, it's best for your furry friend if I meet them in comfortable circumstances, where at least one primary owner is present.  This is also a great chance to discuss what services you're interested in, any issues your dog has that I need to be aware of, and to sort out a payment method.  Don't worry, the 'Meet & Greet' is free of charge!

Will you walk my dog off-leash?

All dogs will be walked on-leash.

Do you offer dog-sitting / doggie day care services?

Yes! I have boarded many dogs in the past, and also provide house/pet sitting for my clients as well.  If you are interested in house/pet sitting, please contact me directly and we can discuss your options.

Currently, I do not usually offer doggie day care services.

What happens if it hails, we have a blizzard, or in any other extreme weather?

In the case of extreme weather, which we get all too often in Edmonton, it will be up to the dog walker and the owner.  I reserve the right to delay or cancel on a run or walk if the conditions are unsafe for the dog (or myself) to be outside.  This includes but is not limited to: hail, a blizzard, extreme rain, a severe cold snap or a severe heat wave.  You know your dog better than anyone, so if you know your dog doesn't enjoy being outside below a certain temperature, refuses to go for a walk in the rain or can’t handle extreme heat then let me know, and we can figure out when we do or do not cancel.  Cancellations of this sort will be rain-checked, so we will be able to schedule that activity on a future date.

When can I make a booking?

You can book up to 4 months in advance, or the day before (subject to availability).  If you book last minute, just be aware that I may be over-booked, or your ideal time slot may not be available.

What is your cancellation policy?

In the case of a cancellation with less than 48 hours notice, there will be no refund or rain check given, assuming the cancellation was not for extreme weather reasons, or health issues for the dog.

In the case of a cancellation more than 48 hours in advance of the booking, a rain check will be issued.  Rain checks must be used within one month from date of issue.

When are you available?

Usually, I am available Monday to Sunday during the day.  I occasionally take a weekend out of town, so prefer advance notice if you have a particular weekend in mind.  During most public holidays I am available, but it is really on a case-by-case basis.  If you have a certain holiday in mind, please book as early as you know - there may be an extra charge.
